About Me

A man with a beard, in an orange t-shirt and shorts, standing next to a white SUV with outdoor gear on the roof, in a landscape of red rock formations and distant mountains.

I’m Nathan — photographer, storyteller, and the creative force behind Beautiful Machine Photography. I’ve been passionately exploring photography since my freshman year of college, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of helping families, businesses, and communities tell their stories through portraiture, documentary work, and lifestyle imagery.

Photography, to me, is more than taking pictures — it’s about curiosity. I’m drawn to the unfamiliar and to seeing the familiar in new ways. This curiosity not only shapes how I approach my craft, but also why I’m compelled to chase light, texture, and emotion in every frame.

I live in Colorado with my wife Courtney and our three kids — River, Arden, and Rhodes — who inspire me every day with their wonder and energy. In addition to photography, I love exploring the outdoors in my 4Runner, playing bass guitar, and immersing myself in thoughtful design — from watches to pens and beyond.

Beautiful Machine Photography is where all of this intersects: curiosity, beauty, movement, and artistic intention. It’s an invitation to see machines not just as objects, but as stories waiting to be captured. If you’re drawn to what you see here — whether you’re a car enthusiast, an art lover, or someone who appreciates visual storytelling — I’d love to connect and create something meaningful together.
